AYKANNA  is a stunning musical duo created by Sukhdev Jackson  and Grammy nominated percussionist Akahdahmah . Together they merge sacred chants with uplifting music. Its the dawn of the  Age of Aquarius and Aykanna is making the kind of art that is a powerful representation of what this age is about. Truth, freedom and to know that the responsibility to make a change is on us. Aykanna means the pipeline between heaven and earth from the ancient sacred Arameic texts.

Sukhdev’s Soul and Jazz upbringing and Akahdahmah’s West African percussive influences seasoned with Afro-Cuban, New York City funk resonate throughout their albums “Livelight” and “Mother”.  The duo also produced both albums that is filtrating itself throughout the International Yoga scene and beyond.

Sukhdev’s solo career begun in London in the mid 90′s with an EMI record deal doing a blend of RnB/hip hop that incorporated  her native tongue, French. She landed in Los Angeles eleven years ago playing acoustic Soul under  a major management company who now manages Jack Johnson and Duran Duran.  Akahdahmah’s musical journey is weaved with the likes of accompanying India Arie & Living Color amongst many. He is also one of the founding members of Herban Shamen.

In 2002 music called  Sukhdev and Akahdahmah together to accept a journey into a medicine music training that would reveal to them the healing power of the Sacred Sound Current. The transformation was so profound in their lives that it inspired them to accept the mission to awaken with music the healing and creative powers of Love in all people. Both are also yoga teachers bringing awareness through yoga and conscious music as they travel the seas is the foundation of their work together.

AYKANNA has performed in concert at yoga festivals and other events worldwide, including: USA, Central America, United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Switzerland. Festivals played include Spirit Fest, Hanuman Festival, Wanderlust, Yoga Journal Conference and Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration

The dynamic duo is currently in the studio recording a selection of Inspirational songs that have been inspired over the last few years. Aykanna is excited to reveal this other side of the coin that promises to ignite passion, devotion and open hearts.
